THE Brierley Hill Society of Artists have returned to Wordsley’s Red House Glass Cone with an exhibition featuring more than 180 pieces of work.

Running until March 12, the annual exhibition showcases a range of watercolour, oil, pastel, acrylic and lithograph pieces, and includes local and country scenes, portraits, still life and life drawing.

Getting bigger year by year, 2017’s display has seen staff at the cone having to get more wracking in for the paintings due to the sheer volume – this year there are 100 framed and 80 unframed offerings, and a total of 24 painters represented.

Pieces include the brightly coloured Potting Shed, a watercolour by E Skidmore, Steve Millward’s Bamford Walk, whose gloss on polycarbonate technique is redolent of a lino print, and Blue Boats Drumbeg by R Kudlacek BW, a peaceful watercolour in blues, purples and greys.

All of the work exhibited is for sale from £10 upwards, while unframed prints and framed items are also available to buy.

Alongside the display, there is also a small children’s exhibition which the society hopes will grow as more younger members join the group.

The cone, in High Street, Wordsley, is open for free from 10am to 3pm Monday to Friday, and 11am until 4pm at weekend. More information is available at www.redhouseglasscone.co.uk
