DUDLEY Zoo may have been forced to close to visitors today due to the wintry weather but the attraction’s reindeer herd were in their element.
It was, however, a brand new experience for new arrivals Basil, Ivy and Doreen who were getting their very first taste of the white stuff.
The site may be closed but it was business as usual for the zoo’s dedicated team of staff who arrived early to work this morning (Friday) to begin transporting supplies across the 40-acre site Some even dug out the sledges to help move food around the hilly site to care for the 1,600-strong collection of creatures.
Zoo bosses have promised to keep their website (www.dudleyzoo.org.uk) and social media sites updated with news on whether the attraction will be open tomorrow (Saturday).
