PEOPLE across the borough are invited to celebrate Commonwealth Day in Dudley with multi faith service at Top Church.

Dudley Council is inviting people of all faiths and cultures to the service, starting at midday on Monday March 12, which will be attended by the Mayor of Dudley and Deputy Lieutenant of the West Midlands.

Led by Rev Dr Robert Barlow, members of the Dudley Borough Interfaith Network will deliver the service together which will echo the national service being held at Westminster Abbey on the same day.

Dudley Council will also raise a flag at Dudley Council House at 10am on the day which is held to honour international cooperation and celebrate diversity.

The Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Dave Tyler, said: “The theme of this year’s campaign is ‘towards a common future’ building on the individual and collective strengths of all Commonwealth countries.

“This will help us to work together towards global challenges, providing a better future for all in particular young people.

“As an inclusive borough we are all working together to provide a place of harmony for people to live and work in.”

Those attending the event are invited to wear decorations and medals, national dress or uniforms.
