UKIP councillor Star Anderton left the Council House in tears after quitting part way through Dudley Council's budget meeting.

The Coseley East councillor and wheelchair bound disability campaigner cursed at fellow councillors before dramatically quitting the council chamber after a series of outbursts, triggered as Labour councillors David Sparks and Pete Lowe addressed the meeting.

Having already indicated on Facebook that she'd be standing down at the next local election - Cllr Anderton told councillors it was her last meeting and she'd had "enough" of being victimised.

She told colleagues: "You lot are so bad, you are so rude.

"Four years I've had this from these people."

And she said to Mayor, Councillor Dave Tyler after he told her he would "not tolerate outbursts" in the chamber: "What are you going to do?"

Before finally leaving the council chamber - she told councillors "**** you all", shortly after the council voted down an amendment to the budget put forward by UKIP group leader Councillor Paul Brothwood.

Labour group leader Councillor Pete Lowe accused the purple party of putting on a "theatre show".

But cllr Anderton said afterwards that she'd "had enough of being bullied".

She added: "It's horrendous. I can't cope with it. It's wrong. Every single meeting they're shouting and calling us names."

Cllr Anderton's resignation comes just hours before former partner Councillor Bill Etheridge, who represents Sedgley on the council as well as working as West Midlands MEP for UKIP, faces a standards committee hearing over claims he failed to maintain the standards of dignity and respect expected of an elected member.

The claims were made by Cllr Lowe, former leader of the authority, after Cllr Etheridge posted videos on Facebook after a council meeting last year - saying the Council House should be demolished with the councillors inside.

Cllr Etheridge said he would not be attending the meeting - due to take place at Dudley Council House at 10.30am on Tuesday - and he added: "They can go to hell. I hold the whole thing in complete contempt."
