ART groups, community organisations and schools are invited to play a poignant part in this year’s Remembrance Day service in Dudley.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War in 1918 - and Dudley Council wants to hear from any groups or organisations special planning displays or projects to mark the occasion.

Councillor Dave Tyler, the Mayor of Dudley, said: “Remembrance Day is always one of the best-attended civic services of the year, which shows there is still a great appetite to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in war.

“This year is extra important as it marks a century since the end of the Great War, a war in which so many lost their lives fighting for our freedoms on foreign fields.

“That’s why we are putting a call out to the community to get in touch and tell us how they are planning to remember them.

“We’d like to make at least some of the displays we see and hear about over the coming months a central part of the commemorations themselves."
