DUDLEY is showing its support for the nation's heroes by flying the flag for a spectacular family event.

Civic leaders were joined by military veterans at a ceremony to raise the Armed Forces Day flag at the Council House ahead of celebrations at Himley Hall on Sunday June 30.

Thousands of people are expected to visit the historic hall for a day of entertainment including a display of military vehicles, marching bands, music from the D-Day Darlings, and free children’s activities including a climbing wall, trampolines, lawn games.

Councillor Alan Finch, Mayor of Dudley, said: “This year’s Armed Forces Day celebrations are shaping up to be bigger and better than ever. There will be lots of things for people to see and do on the day and best of all it’s all free.

“We have a long established relationship with the armed forces and they are very much part of our celebrations on Armed Forces Day. The flag is a symbol of our commitment to them and honouring the work they do."

The Armed Forces Day flag will be flying at the Council House all week to mark the national event.
