RESIDENTS are being invited to witness the final formalities to mark the end of a Netherton community group.

The Netherton and Woodside Community Group is being dissolved at an extraordinary general meeting on Saturday February 22.

The meeting will take place at Woodside Community Centre, Highgate Road, at 10am where the group’s assets will be disposed of and funds of £5,414 will be divided up between a number of charities from the region.

The partnership was established in October 2002 with the aim of working with Dudley Council to regenerate the region in partnership with residents.

The group introduced Netherton Fun Day at Netherton Park and worked with the Council to establish The Savoy Centre.

The first fun day took place in June 2003 and was opened by the then Mayor of Dudley, Cllr Rosemary Tomkinson.

The group was also at the centre of a campaign to tackle vandalism and anti-social behaviour in Netherton Park in 2005 but in recent years has become inactive.
