Pupils at a Dudley primary school are aiming to raise in excess of £1500 as they take part in fundraising events for Comic Relief this week.

Sledmere Primary School, Netherton has a history of raising large sums of money for Comic Relief but it was decided this year, as it is the 30 year anniversary of the charity, that they would try to exceed their highest total ever raised. ‘Fundraising Fortnight’ was launched last Monday with a whole school assembly and the staff and children promptly got started with a staff car wash on the same day! The school also held a biscuit sale last Thursday which raised a massive £450. This week the children are holding a toy sale, selling raffle tickets to win a hamper full of red goodies and they will be making their faces funny for money on Red Nose Day itself. Mrs. Amanda Britten, teacher at the school said, “The Sledmere Primary School community always pulls together when large fundraising events are organised and this year has been no different. We expect to raise in excess of £1500 and it is doubly special this year as the UK Government has promised to double any amount raised by UK schools. It’s amazing to think that we can help to save and improve the lives of people living around the world and I want to thank all of the pupils, staff and parents for their support.”
