CUSTOMERS at a Dudley supermarket have voted for a council play centre to receive a cash donation.

Staff from Asda, in High Street, have handed over a cheque for £200 to Sycamore Adventure’s play service manager, Keith Rogers, as part of the supermarket’s ‘Chosen by you…Given by us’ green token scheme.

Every month Asda stores choose three charities to represent in the green token vote and shoppers are given tokens at the till that they can put in a box of their choice at the front of the store.

Brittany Sonya Finney, Dudley Asda’s community life champion, said: “It was a real pleasure being at Sycamore. The work and effort that Keith and all the staff put in is inspiring.

“It's an honour to know that the work we do at Asda is really making a difference to our nominated charities.”

Sycamore Adventure, which features a fully equipped indoor play barn, tree houses, tunnel slide, mini waterfall and go-karts, attracts thousands of children every year and has won eight awards for excellence.

Dudley Councillor Ian Cooper, cabinet member for children’s services, said: “Sycamore is a fantastic place for all children to go and play.

“The reputation of the centre is stretching inside and outside the borough and the Asda customer vote shows how much people love Sycamore.”
