A JOURNEY into the borough’s history and heritage is taking place early next month to celebrate Dudley Council’s Local History Day.

Dudley residents are being invited to the free one day event at the Archives and Local History Centre, in Tipton Road, Dudley, on Saturday October 3.

Local History Day will feature a number of family and local history society exhibitions where visitors can find out about life stories, view photographs, ask about ancestry research advice and take part in behind the scenes tours.

Local history talks, family activities and quizzes, a raffle and a free prize draw we also form part of the event day.

Councillor Rachel Harris, cabinet member for health and wellbeing, said: “Dudley has a fascinating history and the Archives and Local History Centre is the perfect place to find out all about it.

“There’s lots on offer during the history day and we are also encouraging people to bring along old photographs to be copied and added to the archives collection.”

Local History Day takes place between 10am and 4pm. For more information call the Archives and Local History Centre on 01384 812770, or visit www.dudley.gov.uk/archives
