A MAN who was rescued from his mangled pick up truck after it crashed into a metal fence in Dudley has escaped with minor injuries.

The truck left the road and came to rest at impaled on a fence in a scaffolding yard in Shaw Road, just before 8.40am this morning (Wednesday).

The driver, believed to be in his 50s, was trapped in the vehicle for an hour while firefighters removed the roof to free him.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said the man remained conscious throughout and was treated for neck pain, injuries to his face and a suspected fractured collarbone.

He was taken to Russells Hall Hospital for treatment.

Shaw Road is currently closed.
