A DUDLEY driver has been warned he could face a jail term after he admitted killing a Halesowen father of eight by careless driving.

Sajid Hussain pleaded guilty to causing the death of David Hinton, aged 47, who was struck by a VW Polo as he was putting one of his children into his parked Peugeot in Oakham Road, Dudley.

Judge John Wait told 36-year-old Hussain, a postman, of Blackacre Road, Dudley, it was a tragic case and he said a pre-sentence report was necessary before sentence could be passed.

But he warned Hussain the fact he was allowing him bail while the report was being prepared was no indication to the likely sentence he could face.

He warned Hussain at Wolverhampton Crown Court: "It may well involve custody."

Hussain was remanded on conditional bail until Friday March 11 and the judge told him he would be disqualified from driving immediately.

Mr Hinton lived in Bath Meadow, Halesowen, and he died from his injuries the day after the tragic accident.

Samantha Powis, for Hussain, asked the court for a report on her client to be prepared ruling it was essential the court had all the possible information at hand.
