DUDLEY’S civic leaders were celebrating Commonwealth Day today (Monday March 14) by raising a flag.
The Commonwealth flag was due to be placed on top of Dudley Town Hall together with more than 850 flags across the globe to commemorate Commonwealth Day which celebrates international co-operation and diversity and to promote a greater understanding of global issues and the role and achievements of the Commonwealth.
The Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Steve Waltho, said: “The theme of this year’s campaign is ‘an inclusive commonwealth’ recognising the diverse grouping of countries. Dudley Council mirrors this as it prides itself on being an inclusive borough.
“As a community council we embrace all of the varying cultures of the residents living in our borough.”
