THE chief executive of The Dudley Group of hospitals has announced she is leaving.

Paula Clark, who has been at the helm of The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust for seven years, is heading off to take up the post of chief executive of University Hospitals of the North Midlands

Ms Clark will be leaving over the next couple of months after a transition period across both trusts whilst succession arrangements are made.

She said: "I am excited to be offered a new challenge and opportunities but I have not made the decision lightly.

“It’s been a privilege to lead the team in Dudley and I wish all our fabulous staff and the executive team all the best for the future.”

"I'm really sad to be leaving as this trust has been a massive part of my life for the past seven years. I will miss the people here, their warmth and the incredible passion they have for serving our community.”

Trust chairman Jenni Ord paid tribute to Paula, saying: "It has been an honour to work alongside Paula and I shall miss her wise leadership and strength of character.

“Paula’s integrity, resilience and determination to make The Dudley Group the best place to receive healthcare, and to make the trust one of the country’s top performing trusts, is truly admirable.

"She will be very much missed.”

Ms Clark faced tough times last year when the trust was placed in breach of its Monitor licence amid concerns about the long-term financial sustainability of the Dudley Group but earlier this year the regulator signalled it was back on track and Ms Clark said she was thrilled to see the trust awarded a 'green' rating.
