THE latest romantic read from Black Country author Miranda Dickinson has become the novelist's sixth best-seller in a row.

I'll Take New York is an "almost sequel" to Miranda's debut novel Fairytale of New York which reunites readers with popular characters from the 2009 best-seller.

The "feel-good love story", which has a strong Christmassy element to it, charts the blossoming friendship between Brooklyn bookstore owner Bea James and broken-hearted psychiatrist Jake Steinmann, who meet at a New York engagement party for Fairytale characters Rosie and Ed where they bond over their dislike of relationships.

The book, Miranda's sixth and last novel for Avon (part of HarperCollins), sold more than 10,000 copies in its first week of release and made it to number 11 on the Sunday Times best-sellers list after just ten days.

The 41-year-old author, who lives in Lower Gornal, said: "I'm over the moon."

Miranda, a former Kingswinford School and King Edward VI College student, has sold around 750,000 copies of her books over the last six years since she was snapped up by Avon after posting her work on Authonomy.com - a site for unsigned writers.

Her next offering, entitled A Parcel for Anna Browne, will be with publishing giant Pan Macmillan - with whom she has signed a three-book, six-figure deal.

I'll Take New York is available from all major High Street and online book sellers.
