A LOWER Gornal hairdresser has proved to be a cut above the rest, after being shortlisted in a regional radio competition.

Nina Williams, based in The Straits, has been nominated by her clients in Beacon Radio’s Beacon Best Awards.

And following the number of nominations, Nina’s salon has been shortlisted in the top three of the hairdressers or beauty salon category, with a public vote currently running to decide the winner of the best hairdresser in the Black Country and Shropshire.

The salon is also the only category choice located in the Black Country, with the other two based in Shrewsbury and Telford.

Nina, who has run the salon for seven years, said: “We are really excited. We were nominated by our customers, so it is really good that we are appreciated by them.

“We are hoping residents will vote for us now so we win the category.”

A handful of further Dudley venues also feature in other categories.

The Village is up for best fitness or gym, while Dudley Zoo and the Black Country Living Museum are both battling it out in the best daytime family attraction category.

Voting closes on October 9.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at Enginuity at the Ironbridge Gorge Museum on October 20.
