BLACK Country residents with a creative flare have been challenged to take part in a worldwide writing project during November.

NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) launched on November 1 and encourages participants to write a 50,000 word novel by the end of the month.

To celebrate and encourage people to get writing, a borough library will host a special event later this month for all budding authors.

Kingswinford Library will welcome published authors Anne-Marie Vukelic and Nell Dixon on Saturday November 22 from 11am to 1pm.

People will be able to mingle with other writers and share ideas at the event and should call 01384 812740 to book a place in advance.

The library will also host a series of creative writing sessions every Tuesday this month, times vary.

Councillor Hilary Bills, cabinet member responsible for libraries, said: “It’s a common belief that everyone has it in them to write at least one book, so now’s the perfect time to put pen to paper and take up the challenge to write a novel by the end of the month.

"It’s quite a short deadline but all the better for getting the creative juices flowing.”
