A KINGSWINFORD youngster has decided to donate her long locks to charity after her balding grandfather made a witty remark.

Holly Wren will have eight inches cut off her hair to give to the Little Princess Trust, which makes wigs for children with cancer.

The eight-year-old is also raising cash for the charity through sponsorship and has generated more than £160 to date.

Her proud mum Lucy said: "Holly's grandad had joked that when she had her hair trimmed she should save the hair and make him a wig as he has little hair himself.

"I mentioned to Holly that some people did send their cut hair off to be made into wigs for children with cancer and Holly said straight away that she wanted to do this.

"We checked the Little Princess Website and read that she needed to have at least seven inches off. When I asked Holly if she wanted so much hair cut off she said yes and that she would have eight inches cut off just to make sure there was enough hair.

"Her dad Darren and I are so proud of Holly for deciding to do this. She has always loved having long hair so this is a real sacrifice for her but she is really happy to be supporting such a wonderful charity."

The Crestwood Park Primary School pupil will face the chop on November 26 at Unique Hair Design in Brierley Hill.
