Local historian John Sparry spoke at the November meeting of the society about his “Kingswinford and Wall Heath memories” Born in Kingswinford he told of the local characters, shopkeepers and neighbours whist living in Moss Grove.

After the family moved to Wall Heath he recounted incidents during the war of bombs dropping locally and of his journeys to school in Stourbridge. John is always a popular speaker and the audience had got their usual questions for John to answer.

The society meets at the Community Centre, High Street, Kingswinford. The December meeting starts at an earlier time of 7 pm as this begins with the Annual general meeting. The society is in need of new officers and committee members and unless volunteers come forward it is likely that the society will close in 2015. New members are obviously needed and will be welcomed to help keep the society which was founded in 1991. After the formal proceedings Graham Fardon is to entertain us with his dramatic and humorous monologues before members and visitors enjoy some Christmas refreshments.
