A STOURBRIDGE school is hosting a stargazing event for the public in conjunction with BBC’s Stargazing Live 2015.
The event at The Kingswinford School on Wednesday, March 18, coincides with British Science Week, a 10-day celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths.
Staff and enthusiasts at the Water Street school will be on hand to students, parents and local residents to give hints and tips for getting started in stargazing and advice on navigating around the night skies.
“Hands on” activities including night sky observation, planetary viewing and stargazing will take place throughout the evening alongside presentations from guest speakers.
During the evening, between 6pm and 9pm, visitors will have the opportunity to visit the school’s observatory which houses a 12” Meade SC Telescope and other stargazing equipment.
BBC Stargazing Live events are being held throughout March as the UK is getting ready to witness a solar eclipse on March 20.
