ASPIRING Kingswinford beauty queen Rachel Gresswell is among a bevy of beauties hoping to claim the coveted Miss Black Country crown this weekend.

Contestants lining up at The Village Hotel in Dudley this Sunday (May 24) for a chance to win the regional beauty pageant and earn a place in the prestigious Miss England competition.

Rachel Gresswell, sponsored by Oldswinford’s Jessica David Gowns, is among the finalists – all of whom have been invited to muster support by getting friends and relatives to take part in a public vote.

The 23-year-old, who works for West Bromwich Albion FC at its club shop at Merry Hill, won the title of Miss Popularity at the 2014 Miss Birmingham pageant and is hoping for further success on Sunday.

Former Dudley College student Abi Golding and Charlotte May from Netherton are also among the borough beauties set to appear in the regional final which will include sports, fashion and evening wear catwalk shows.

The event will also include a Mr Black Country competition and proceeds from the evening will go to Miss World chairman Julia Morley's charity Beauty with a Purpose.
