CASUAL borough cyclists are being invited to take part in a variety of biking events which are running to coincide with National Bike Week between June 13 to 21.

The Dudley Council events, with routes varying in length and intensity, aim to challenge families to get more out of life by swapping four wheels for two while exploring their local community.

There is the relaxed, mostly traffic-free, 3.5 miles on the Kingswinford Urban Escape for those who have not cycled for a while, with the most challenging – a picturesque, 18 mile, Black Country Bostin Views ride – including modest hills and quiet roads for more confident riders.

Councillor Rachel Harris, cabinet member for health and wellbeing, said: “We are hoping that as many people as possible can turn out to support these local activities, experience the sights we have here in Dudley but also do their health and well-being the power of good.”

All that visitors required to take part is a bicycle, although it is advisable to also use adequate safety equipment, such as a helmet.

The free rides, which all start at 2pm, should take between 45 minutes and two hours to complete and will include breaks.

There are no age restrictions, although all participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
