A MEMORIAL golf day in honour of former Enville Golf Club member Gary Gray is being held tomorrow (June 26).

Friends of Kingswinford man Gary, who passed away in February this year at the age of 54, are holding the event in a bid to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer Research.

The day – being called ’50 Pints for Gray’ – is also being supported by fellow golf club members who hope to raise around £3,000 for the chosen charity of Gary’s wife Jill and his two daughters, Lisa and Emily.

A tee off at 11am from Jill will start the event and following the round, a hot buffet will be held at the Park Tavern, in Cot Lane, Kingswinford.

Gill Chilton, one of the event organisers, said: “Gary was a member of Enville Golf Club for about 20 years and he was a good friend to us all.

“He was a lovely man; dependable, sociable, reliable; and he really loved his family.

“We are aiming to raise as much money as possible for the charity, from raffle prizes, a small auction and subsidised fees from Enville GC, along with wonderful donations from friends and members.

“We have also managed, with help from friends and colleagues, to get all 18 holes sponsored to raise even more money for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.”

Tee times have been reserved so the event will not be able to accommodate people turning up on the day.
