A SHORTAGE of school crossing patrols across the borough has lead to a Dudley Council campaign.
In an attempt to fill the nine lollipop-lacking areas, a number of information sessions have been arranged in local libraries for anyone interested in the position or for help with applications.
The sessions will be at Dudley Library on Wednesdays July 22 and July 29 from 10am to 3pm, while Halesowen Library will host a session on Tuesday, July 14 from 10am to 3pm, and Long Lane Library will offer a session on Thursday, July 16 between 9.30am and 1pm.
Stourbridge Library will have staff available to speak to on Tuesday, July 21 from 10.30am to 2.30pm, and the final session will be held on Monday, July 27 from 10.30am to 2.30pm, in Kingswinford Library.
Councillor Hilary Bills, cabinet member for environmental services, said: “Our school crossing patrols are highly valued members of the road safety team and have an extremely important role in the community.
“Patrols work term time only and the job would suit people who perhaps need to work around other daily commitments.
“I would encourage anyone who is interested to find out a bit more about the role, without obligation, to get along to one the library sessions and have a chat with the friendly road safety staff.”
