The guild met on October 12 in the community centre in High street.

The advertised speaker was unable to attend , but happily Alan Peace stepped in at very short notice to fill the gap. He spoke about the life of the Barn owl , with many surprising facts to correct the false impressions we may have had of this bird .He also told us about the the World Owl Conservation group which is attempting to save many threatened species .He was thanked by Joyce Major .

A name The Doll competition was set in motion to help boost the funds of the Wednesday club which have become somewhat depleted. The doll is a little beauty ,knitted by Brenda Greenaway ,who was one of several members unable to be present for various reasons. In November the Wednesday Club is an open night to which gentlemen are invited, when Chris smith will speak about some unual things “Made In The Black Country”. As usual the sections announced their forthcoming events . As the December meeting is a Christmas lunch at The Lodge, a Charity box for those who prefer not to send cards will be provided at the November meeting as well as in December.

In November our speaker will be John Mobberly asking us if we remember the 1950s .If you were not even born then, this might be a fascinating look at recent history ,so come and join us .

Kath Turner was thanked for her delightful flower arrangement which she donated as an extra raffle prize. The raffle prizes were won by Sue Wilson and Enid Fennell.
