DISUSED garages are set to be transformed into affordable new homes in Kingswinford by Dudley Council.

The council-owned garages in Marley Road are part of a programme to build around 350 new homes across the borough over the next five years.

Together with similar garage sites in Dudley and Netherton, the Marley Road development is the first project in a recent four-year £18 million ‘framework’ contract agreed with Cannock firm Jessup Brothers.

Dudley Council are now encouraging local residents to see the designs for the new homes which are proposed to be built.

Residents can view the plans between 3pm and 7pm on Wednesday January 20, at The Dingle Community Centre in Dingle Road.

Councillor Gaye Partridge, cabinet member for housing, said: “Dudley Council is committed to providing more council homes to meet the increasing demand for affordable housing across the borough.

“Local residents and anyone interested in finding out more about these proposals can go along to the consultation events to see the designs.

“They can also speak to their local councillors and council staff to ask any questions they may have.”
