BOROUGH charities can look forward to a welcome windfall this month thanks to the efforts of Kingswinford and Stourbridge Lions Club.
The Lions collected a total £8,485 from their annual Santa and his sleigh tour of the area, which will be presented to nominated charities at Stourbridge Institute and Social Club on Monday January 25.
Busy Lions members were also out in force collecting at a number of local stores during the build-up to Christmas.
They staged collections at Sainsbury's Amblecote store, Morrisons at Kingswinford, Stourbridge's Ryemarket shopping centre and Webbs garden centre in West Hagley.
Some of the money raised from the venues will go to the Brierley Hill based Paul Ackrill Fund, which is Sainsbury's chosen charity this year, together with other local good causes.
