A SHOTGUN which was stolen during a burglary in Kingswinford has prompted a police appeal to find the weapon.

Burglars prised open a kitchen window to gain entry into a house on Ploverdale Crescent between 1.30pm and 9pm on Wednesday (January 20).

The shotgun – a Browning Super Sport 325 – as well as about 70 shotgun cartridges, were among the large quantity of items stolen in the raid, which included thousands of pounds worth of jewellery and cash, iPads, a mobile phone and a games console.

Detective Constable Nick Slym said: “The gun is missing a forearm, a part beneath the barrel which means it cannot be fired. However, it still has the appearance of a working shotgun.

“Thankfully incidents like this are rare and I would like to reassure the public that we have a dedicated team of officers working on this investigation.

“We are determined to find who is responsible and the stolen firearm that they took and I would urge anyone with any information to contact us.”

Anyone who has information relating to the burglary, or the current location of the firearm, is urged to contact Det Con Slym at Brierley Hill police station on 101 using crime reference number 20DY/13220F/16.
