A SPECIAL afternoon tea has been organised to raise money for Kingswinford teen Elle-Mae Davidson.

Elle suffered a massive brain haemorrhage in January 2013 when she was just 16 and her family and friends are now on a quest to raise £100,000 to help get her get the stem cell treatment she desperately needs.

As part of the fundraising, ‘Elle’s Angels’ are holding an afternoon tea event at Blakelands Country House, in Halfpenny Green, this Friday (May 13) from noon.

Elle’s mum Leah said: “This is the second fundraising event we have held in order to raise the money for Elle’s stem cell treatment and we are so grateful for everyone’s support.

“We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone who has supported Elle since she was first taken ill and can’t thank Blakelands enough for hosting this event.”

Academic Elle-Mae, who achieved all A*s in her GCSEs, had her sights set on studying Russian at Oxbridge when she suffered the haemorrhage.

At the time she was given little, if no, chance of survival but – after spending five weeks in critical care, seven months in high dependency and the next 16 months in a children's rehabilitation centre in Surrey – she was back living at home with her parents.

Blakelands Country House raised £750 for Elle-Mae during a tea party at the venue last June.

Paul Morgan, owner of Blakelands, said: “We heard about Elle’s story last year through the charity Promise Dreams, who we’ve had a relationship with for a number of years.

“We really wanted to help and hope that the event will raise as much money as possible for Elle.”

Tickets for the event must be purchased in advance. For more information call 01384 221000.
