A POPULAR singing duo will be making a welcome return appearance in Kingswinford this week.
Formed from the ashes of 90s folk-rock outfit Ragtrade, Winter Wilson will perform at the Woodman Folk Club, based at Ashwood Marina, from 8.30pm on Friday (November 11).
Winter Wilson, made up of singer-songwriter Kip Winter and Dave Wilson, had been plying their trade part-time on the UK acoustic music scene for around twenty years when, in 2012, they decided to give up their "proper jobs" and make music their living.
Their reputation has blossomed, with appearances at folk clubs and festivals across the UK winning many new fans for their own style of “joyous rebellion”.
In 2014, their sixth album ‘Cutting Free’ propelled the duo music towards a larger audience, featuring in the Daily Telegraph’s ‘10 Fine Folk Albums For The Summer’.
The duo’s latest Ashes & Dust tour has already taken the pair all over the UK, as well as into Ireland, Germany and the Netherlands, with a tour of Australia to come in early 2017.
Their Woodman gig is one of just two English concerts “tucked in” between trips to Scotland and the Netherlands.
“Downtime hasn't really happened for us this year”, added Kip. “We've a couple of weeks off in December, then it's back to it with a vengeance in 2017.”
The Woodman Folk Club meets at 8.30pm every Friday evening at Ashwood Marina, in Ashwood Lower Lane, with entry on the door costing £7, or £6 for members.
