AN elderly woman has died following a house fire in Kingswinford yesterday evening (Monday November 14).
Emergency services were called to the fatal fire in Catesby Drive just before 11.30pm last night.
Police said an elderly woman was found dead at the property.
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “Once firefighters had brought the fire under control ambulance staff were able to access the woman through a window.
“Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent that nothing could be done to save her and she was confirmed dead at the scene."
A West Midlands Police spokeswoman said the lady's death was not being treated as suspicious and has been referred to the coroner.
A West Midlands Fire Service spokesman said no further details would be released at the current time out of respect for the woman’s family.
