Kingswinford Townswomen's Guild met in the Community Center on Monday, May 8. Chairman Enid Fennel welcomed a visitor and hoped that she would enjoy the meeting. After the formal business of reading and signing the minutes of the previous meeting , Mrs Fennel ,in the absence of our Federation Delegate read the report of The Federation AGM.

The group leaders announced their forthcoming events.

Enid then asked members to peruse their copies of "Townswoman " magazine ,in order so that we can discuss them at our June meeting before we enjoy our strawberries and cream refreshments.

Margaret Whitfield was thanked for bringing roses from her garden to brighten the room.

The quiz team made arrangements for pick up times to the Football Club venue and Enid wished them "Good Luck" on behalf of the members.

She then introduced Ron Gallivan who gave us a thought provoking talk entitled "Iron Maidens" ,a fascinating account of how well planned the conscription of women was conducted during World War 2 and how the results were very successful . They had long lasting effects too,in the fact that it now became more acceptable for married women to go out to work and it also brought pressure on the case for women to receive equal pay for equal work. He was thanked on our behalf by Chris Moy.
