Kingswinford RBL

As we come near to the end of the 2016 Poppy Appeal Organisers of the Kingswinford Branch would like to thank members of the public for their outstanding generosity as they revealed that £47,505.10 has been raised so far. Bob Townsend, Poppy Appeal Organiser, paid tribute to those who had given their time and money to the cause.

We are very grateful to the many individuals from the Branch, Women’s Section and Kingswinford RBL Club members who gave so generously of their time to make this year’s appeal such a success. Sincere thanks is also given to the local schools who continue to support this worthwhile cause, local businesses of Kingswinford, Wall Heath, Bromley and Pensnett that very kindly collect for us, Churches, Cadet Forces, Scouts, Guides, Cubs, Brownies, Beavers and Rainbows are thanked for their enthusiastic and generous support in making this amount for the Poppy Appeal. In addition we say thank you to Morrison’s supermarket, The Co-op and the Lidl store who allow us the use of their premises to sell poppies and collect money for the Poppy Appeal.

This year we are very proud to have a local man Karl Norton (see Picture attached) offer to run the London Marathon to raise money for the appeal, this was Karl's first ever marathon. He managed to complete the course in just over 4hrs, raising £1733.00.

As usual the Branch held its annual appreciation evening when awards were presented to the volunteers who give their time to raise money for the Poppy Appeal. At this year's awards night the previous Poppy Appeal Organiser Mr Alan Barratt received an award for 50 years collecting.
