Kingswinford Townswomen's Guild

The guild met on Monday , November 13, in the Community Centre, High Street , Kingswinford.

There was quite a lot of business, as the guild will not have a formal meeting in December because we will enjoying a festive meal at The Lodge in Dudley.

chairman, Enid Fennell, welcomed Josie Smith as a visitor and said that we all hoped she would be able to resume her membership in the near future. News of absentee members was given out, some of which was good, some less so.

The Federation Report was read, emphasizing the Christmas celebration in St Thomas's Church in Stourbridge. Joyce Major mentioned that she had programmes for sale at the astounding price of 50p. This includes a cup of tea and a mince pie in the church hall afterwards. In addition the church will be decorated with many Christmas trees , which add to the Festive Spirit. A bargain indeed. Most members checked their diaries to make sure they had the correct date of Saturday December 9. Times and pick up points were announced for those going to the National Carol Service in Coventry.

Enid reminded us that next year we would need some new committee members as some people were experiencing difficulties.

Dawn Hampton was thanked for the pot plant she provided for the chairman's table ,which she generously donated as an extra raffle prize. The charity collection box was put out so that those who wanted to could make a donation instead of cards.

Then followed the main event of the evening. The Kingswinford Strummers, gave us a very enjoyable performance which showed off their expertise. We were invited to join in with the singing and some actions. Chris Moy thanked them on our behalf and we went home with a song in our hearts .
