Easter fun at borough museums

BOROUGH museums are running a host of craft sessions for kids throughout Easter.

Broadfield House Glass Museum in Kingswinford is offering youngsters over five chance to make a kiln fused glass pendant on April 11 from midday to 3pm.

Sessions cost £3.75 per item.

Spaces are limited and can be booked in advance on 01384 812745.

Children can also have a go at making a fused glass pendant using small bits of Bullseye glass.

Sessions run every 30 minutes and need to be booked in advance.

On April 12 youngsters can try their hand at making a kiln fused tile or wall hanging using bright glass stringers and frit. Sessions run from noon to 1pm or from 1.30pm to 2.30pm or 2.45pm to 3.45pm and cost £5.25 per tile.

Pre-booking and payment in advance is required for all kiln fused sessions.

Call 01384 815571. Pendants and tiles will be fused ready for collection from the museum at a later date.

The Red House Glass Cone in Wordsley will be offering children chance to make funky farm critters out of range of different materials on April 10 and 11.

All sessions at the cone run from 10.30am to 12.30pm or from 1.30pm to 3.30pm and cost £3.75 Sessions must be booked and paid for in advance on 01384 812750.

Councillor David Stanley, Dudley’s cabinet member for environment and culture, said: “The Juniors at Museums club provides children with a wide-range of crafty activities throughout the year.

“The sessions are very popular and with so much on offer over Easter I’m sure we will see a lot of families joining in with the fun.”

Children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of all workshops which are suitable for youngsters aged five to 11.
