Kingswinford flower fest to live the Olympic dream

A FLOWER festival in Kingswinford is going to be living the Olympic dream to raise cash for church restoration.

St Mary's Church, The Village, will be playing host to the show and organisers are hoping to raise thousands of pounds for revamp work at the centre, which dates back to the twelfth century.

The bi-annual show will this year run from Friday July 13 to Monday July 16 and will feature a number of themed displays based on the Olympic Dream.

The event will also feature celebration services and a concert by Phoenix West Midlands Brass.

Church warden, Mary Thompson, said: "The festival was well attended in 2010, in 2012 we plan to attract even bigger crowds. It really is into the starting blocks now as the preparation speeds up.

"The church and St Mary's Primary School together are at the heart of the village life in Kingswinford. The children are so excited about their initial designs for their flower displays on the theme of the Para Olympics"
