BLACK Country comedy act The Fizzogs have been making a spectacle of themselves after being snapped up by Specsavers opticians to front a promotional campaign.

The three-piece outfit comprising Deb Nicholls, Sue Hawkins and Jacky Fellows - whose Dancing Grannies routine has made them internet stars around the world - have been stopping shoppers with their hilarious routine which they've been performing at Specsavers shops in Wolverhampton, Nottingham, and Wokingham to date.

The dynamic dance troupe, who don grey wigs and OAP-style chunky cardigans as they gyrate to the latest pop hits, are also being lined up for appearances at stores in Leicester and Cheshire and a host of other regions.

Hardip Bahia, from Specsavers, Wolverhampton, said: “I had seen the Grannies on social media, and was able to book them for the relaunch of our store. We probably had the highest volume of people through our doors. The launch day was a huge success and the Grannies were superb."

Sue Caskey, director at Specsavers Wokingham branch, said: “We love the Dancing Grannies. We laugh every time we see the recording from the day. The moves are amazing.”

Fizzog - Deb Nicholls said: “The reaction from all around the world to the Dancing Grannies has been incredible.

“Some of the comments online have suggested we are men in drag because of the size of our feet. We think some of those people should go to Specsavers!

“Some think we are being unkind to old people while others think it’s great that we are inspiring old folk to get up and dance."

The Fizzogs will be back on home turf later this month when they perform their stage show Freezin' at the Netherton Arts Centre, Northfield Road, Netherton, on Friday June 24 and Saturday June 25 as a warm-up to the Black Country Festival.
