A 15-year-old boy from Sandwell has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of Netherton man Simon Johnson.

The teenager was arrested from his home in Old Hill at 9pm yesterday evening (Saturday, August 13) and is today (August 14) being questioned as part of the enquiry.

Meanwhile, West Midlands Police has been granted more time to question an 18-year-old man, from Cradley Heath, who was arrested on Friday night.

Father-of-two Mr Johnson was found dead at his home in Cradley Road on Thursday morning (August 11) and a post mortem examination later showed the 41-year-old died from stab wounds.

Detective Inspector Warren Hines, senior investigating officer, said: “The investigation is progressing quickly and clearly this latest arrest is another significant development.

“However, I still really need to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in Cradley Road before Thursday morning – or anyone who has information about the killing or has overheard something that could be important.

“They can speak to us in confidence…and that snippet of information could be crucial in securing justice for Simon’s family.”

Yesterday, Mr Johnson’s wife issued a statement saying her and her family are devastated at the loss of her husband.

Anyone with information can pass it directly to DI Hines by calling 101 or, to speak anonymously, call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
