DUDLEY South MP Mike Wood is getting set to host a number of meetings for members of his constituency to raise issues relating to their community.

The MP said he intends to hold three or four ‘Mike Direct’ events in each of his wards throughout the next 12 month where constituents can also pose questions to Mr Wood.

He said: “Since becoming elected in May 2015 I have held many community type events such as jobs and pensioner fairs. I have had street stalls throughout recess and held many surgeries.

“After looking at how MPs can engage and become more accessible to their electorate I have decided to hold regular forums throughout the constituency with the first one covering both Kingswinford South and North.”

In preparation for the first ‘Mike Direct’ event – taking place between 6.30pm and 8pm on Friday, November 18 at Kingswinford Community Centre – flyers will be distributed around the area, as well as being advertised in the local community centres.

Mr Wood added: “I’m hoping many people with an interest in their local area will attend and raise issues they wish to.

“Since becoming the MP for Dudley South I have done my best to be a community based Member of Parliament.

“This is a very direct way for members of parliament and their constituents to engage and I hope people use it for that purpose and turn up on November 18.”

A further ‘Mike Direct’ event is planned for Brockmoor at the end of November, while December’s meetings will take place in Wordsley, Netherton and Pensnett.
