Thespians set to shine in poignant play

DUDLEY Little Theatre is gearing up to stage the poignant play that established Tennessee Williams as a major American dramatist.

The company will be bringing to life The Glass Menagerie at the Netherton Arts Centre, Northfield Road, Netherton, from Wednesday March 7 to Saturday March 10.

Set in the 1930s, in a cramped two-bedroom apartment in St Louis, the thought-provoking play sees Amanda Winfield, her daughter Laura and son Tom each trying to escape the harsh reality of their lives.

Rebecca Clee stars as Mrs Winfield, with Georgina Lovell taking on the role of her lame daughter Laura - who dreams of a suitor who will disregard her disability.

James Silvers plays the gentleman visitor who the family hope will embrace Laura - and David Hutchins stars as Mrs Winfield’s son Tom who narrates the play.

Performances start at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £6 (£5 concessions). There’s also a ten per cent discount on group bookings of ten or more tickets.
