A BMX bandit armed with an iron bar subjected an elderly couple to a vicious attack during a robbery in Netherton.
Police hunting the bike-riding robber are appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened on Knighton Road at around 11.10pm on Wednesday April 3.
The victims, in their 70s, were approached from behind by a thug who hit the man with an iron bar and demanded his wallet before hitting the woman on the arm.
He grabbed her handbag before jumping onto a small BMX style bike and cycling off.
The elderly woman suffered a fractured arm and wrist and her husband suffered bruising to his leg.
The offender is described as white and in his early 20s. He was wearing black clothing and a black baseball cap.
Ds Matt Morgan, from Dudley CID, said: "We believe the offender may be local to the Netherton area and someone out there must know who he is"
Anyone with any information should call Dudley CID on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
