A NETHERTON pub has produced a pint-sized plan to raise cash for a pair of good causes.

The Old Swan, home to the Ma Pardoe's brewery, will be serving up a new ale called Golden Chains which has been brewed to aid the Mayor of Dudley’s charities.

The new brew will be available at the Halesowen Road boozer plus other pubs which sell Ma Pardoe's beer and want to support the mayor's charities - White House Cancer Support in Dudley and Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

Councillor Alan Finch, Mayor of Dudley, said: “I’m absolutely delighted that Ma Pardoe’s have been kind enough to brew this special Mayoral ale to help raise money for my charities.”

Tim Newey, landlord at The Old Swan, said: “Following a meeting with the Mayor at an event earlier in the year we came up with the idea of brewing the special ale and we are happy with the new ale and we’re sure it will be a hit with our customers.”

The pub has brewed 40 nine gallon barrels of the ale and it if this is all sold it will raise around £800 for the charities.
