A DISABLED Black Country man is hoping for community support for an unusual world record attempt.

Former football manager Steve Daniels is aiming to hit the road next June to beat a speed record for the John O'Groats to Land's End journey.

Steve, aged 60, is aiming to complete the journey of around 1,000 miles on a mobility scooter. He is hunting for sponsors to help him beat the current record of 24 days.

The disabled former football manager from Netherton said: "This of course will be a massive task for me but one I want to do to help disabled people. I work with disabled groups, also individuals that are disabled; this is all I do now, all my work is on a volunteer basis.

"I will be looking for companies, groups, organizations and individual people to sponsor me and help me raise has much money has I can for my charities. I'm hoping to raise £20,000."
