A WOMAN had to be helped from her car this morning (February 18) after she crashed into a lamppost on a residential street in Netherton.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the smash on Marriott Road just before 9am.
West Midlands Fire Service sent two fire engines to the incident after being contacted by West Midlands Ambulance Service.
The fire crews helped the woman out of her car, which had been damaged by the crash, before she received a precautionary check up by paramedics.
Matthew Smith, a fire service spokesman, said: “We received a call at 8.55am from the ambulance service about an incident in Marriott Road, Netherton.
“We sent two fire engines to the scene, one from Brierley Hill and another from Haden Cross.

“A message from our crews came through at 9.09am saying the incident involved a car in collision with a lamppost. One woman was helped from the car and received a precautionary check up at the scene.
“The vehicle and surrounding area were made safe by fire service personnel.”
West Midlands Police were also called to the scene and are currently investigating the incident with the assistance of the Highways Agency following damage to the lamppost.
