DETECTIVES investigating the murder of Netherton man Simon Johnson have tonight (Monday August 15) released two teenagers on police bail pending further inquiries.

A 15-year-old boy, who was arrested on Saturday evening, and an 18-year-old man, who was arrested on Friday evening, have been told to report back to officers in October.

Mr Johnson, a 41-year-old father-of-two, who was found at his Cradley Road home last Thursday morning and a post-mortem revealed he died from stab wounds.

Two other men, both 18, were arrested in connection with his death last week but were later released without charge.

Inquiries continue and Detective Inspector Warren Hines, from West Midlands Police’s Homicide Team, remains keen to hear from witnesses who have not yet come forward.

He said: “I really need to hear from anyone who may have seen anything out of the ordinary in Cradley Road before Thursday morning.”

He stressed any "snippet of information could be crucial in helping us progress this inquiry”.

Mr Johnson's wife released a tribute over the weekend following his death - saying: “Simon was loved by all of his family and was a very proud father of two girls. We are devastated by our loss.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact DI Hines by calling 101 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers (anonymously) on 0800 555 111.
