A PENSNETT chippy that took a battering when a car smashed through the window is back open for business.

The grey BMW narrowly missed the three members of staff working behind the counter at Mandy's Tasty Plaice, Commonside, when it crashed through last Wednesday evening.

Fryer Asa Singh said it was a "miracle" noone had been hurt and was forced to close while the damaged shop front, floor, tiles and shutter were replaced.

He said: "We have been working around the clock to get the shop open and have finally done so. We have been lucky that the local community and our supplier have rallied round to make it possible. We look forward to greeting our customers back."

Mr Singh hopes to have a roe of customers ready to save a few squid by taking advantage of some special offers to celebrate the re-opening, adding: "We'll have some crazy tasty offers all week, it will be better than half price."
