FORMER Pensnett and Brockmoor Councillor Margaret Bowkley has died after losing her battle with motor neurone disease.

Margaret, who was 66 and lived at The Straits in Sedgley, was a member of Dudley Council from 2002 to 2003.

She worked as a principal officer for Wolverhampton City Council’s social services and was also held various fundraising events for Fair Trade and MacMillan Nurses.

A keep-fit enthusiast, she was also a member of Wolverhampton Rambling Club.

Her husband Colin said: “She was always interested in politics and trying to help people.

“She did a great deal of work for MP Ian Austin and stood on several occasions as the Labour candidate for Wordsley, although she knew she had little chance of winning, but felt it was important that the party had a candidate”.
