TWO deacons were ordained to serve parishioners in Lye and Brierley Hill at Worcester Cathedral.

The candidates for the area were among a total of six ordinands at the service presided by The Bishop of Worcester, the Right Reverend Dr John Inge.

Tom Fish from Lambeth, who will serve at Christ Church in Lye, will be moving to the Black Country with his wife, Helen, and their two sons.

He said: “I am passionate about the local church and long for it to be a place where people can come as they really are and meet God as He really is.”

Bridget Woodall from Yorkshire will serve Brierley Hill and will move to Quarry Bank from St John’s College in Nottingham.

She said: “I am looking forward to exploring a new part of the country and to serving the people in Quarry Bank as I start my role as assistant curate.”

Bishop John said: "It is always a joy to ordain those who have responded to God's call to dedicate their life to the service of God and other people in ministry."
