FORMER school friends of 50-year-old cancer victim Sharon Drakeley are rallying round by staging a Zumbathon this Sunday (June 7) at Quarry Bank Labour Club.

The Zumbathon takes place from 2pm until 5pm and organisers hope as many of her old friends as possible will turn up.

Sharron Moseley nee Hart, who is helping to organise the event, said: "We all went to Thorns School where she was known as Sharon Fletcher. She's been so brave, because the cancer is now terminal.

"She wants the occasion to be a happy event and would like to see as many old friends as possible turn up and enjoy themselves."

Sharron's son Bernard Moseley, a 24-year-old teacher from Dudley, goalkeeping coach at Walsall Academy and Zumba instructor, will be running a Zumbathon masterclass from 3.30pm to 4.30pm, which will cost £5 each.

Sharron Moseley added: "We've had to put something together quite quickly, but we all wanted to do something for Sharon.

"We've got friends coming from Dorset for the Zumbathon together with people that didn't even know her."

There will also be raffles and cakes available on Sunday.
