A 29-YEAR-OLD Quarry Bank man has denied causing the death of a young man by driving dangerously in Netherton.

Jamie Wharton, of Birch Coppice, was remanded on bail by the judge for trial - expected to begin early next year.

Wharton pleaded not guilty to causing the death of 23-year-old Timothy Pearson in St Peters Road, Netherton, on June 3, 2014.

Mr Pearson, who also lived in the Quarry Bank area, suffered fatal injuries when a Nissan car – in which he was a passenger – collided with a wall and he died at the scene.

Stephen Bailey, prosecuting, told Wolverhampton Crown Court the trial of Wharton was set to last for five days.

He said a date for the hearing would have to be fixed administratively, but it is expected that the trial would not start until early 2016.

Judge John Warner told Wharton he would be bailed unconditionally until the hearing.
